PVT Derek Doane is a 2018 graduate of Somerville High School, a member of IBEW Local 103 who is serving with the US Army 1-37 Armor Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armor Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Derek will be deploying on March 14, 2020 to Poland to participate in “Defender Europe 2020.” It will be the largest deployment of US forces to Europe from the continental United States in the past 25 years.

Other units involved will consist of elements from the 82nd Airborne, 173 Airborne, 1st Infantry Division, 2nd Armor Division as well troops from UK, Germany, and Poland.

Our hats are off to his true Somerville spirit!
