Somerville Lions Club Members Ready to Roll up Their Sleeves and Get to Work

By Marco Mariano

The Somerville Lion’s Club held its annual installation of officers banquet and clambake last Tuesday to bring in the new officers for 2018-2019 calendar years.

The event with over one hundred attendees friends, relatives, other lions and service clubs from around the state was a big success. The event was enjoyed by all as well as motivated them into high gear to roll up their sleeves to begin continuing the work that they do best which is as their Lion’s Club motto says “WE SERVE!”

Billy Tauro was elected for a sixth term as president of the Somerville Lion’s Club with energetic plans to hit the ground running with the now more members that were inducted into the club to get much more needed work done this coming term.

He plans to reach out to Somerville’s other service clubs, (Somerville Rotary Club and Somerville Kiwanis Club) and join forces with them to reach out and assist as many people as possible that need help out there in the community.

In an interview Tauro stated from a quote from Lions International that “Where There’s a NEED, There’s a LION!”

“Whenever a Lions club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That’s because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.”
