WE ARE SOMERVILLE: Transfer Tax Public Comment Deadline

To the homeowners, commercial and residential property owners Monday May 14 th is the deadline for public comment.  This is the last opportunity to weigh in on a transfer tax that will impact the sales of properties throughout Somerville.

When properties are sold this tax will be implemented adding thousands of dollars to the cost of transferring the sale of residential and commercial property.

The Board of Alderman will be voting before the close of this month and sending the home rule petition to the state for approval.  This legislation is also being discussed by a Committee of State Representatives which could impact every city and town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Contact the Board of Alderman @ Boardofalderman@somervillema.gov.  or the City Clerk @ Cityclerk@somervillema.gov.

Since it is likely that the Board of Alderman will vote to approve this petition the next step to the opposition of another TAX will be at the State level.
