The Mystic River may have been covered with frozen white snow over sheets of thick ice, but the colors were all green and warm inside Somerville’s Winter Hill Yacht Club at its annual Somerville Council on Aging’s St Patricks Party!
Over a hundred Somerville seniors enjoyed a fun filled day listening to festive Irish music, wearing cheerful green attire, enjoying raffles and winning door prizes and feasting to a homemade traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner all hosted by the members of the yacht club this past Thursday.
While Somerville Police Chief David Fallon and Community Police Officer Maryann Manfra were busy handing out baskets of Irish Soda Bread, Mayor Joseph Curtatone was leading the singalong of festive Irish songs with the seniors.
The Winter Hill Yacht Club has become one of Assembly Squares most valued neighbors and a favorite venue to Somerville seniors as they host monthly events together with Director Cindy Hickey and her staff of the Somerville Council on Aging.
Winter Hill Yacht Club Commodore Joe Dunne and his crew of yacht club members who all volunteered, prepared and the served the traditional corned beef and cabbage to the crowd have made this an annual tradition in Somerville.
