Groundbreaking Somerville’s Korean and Vietnam War Memorials

Today, we marked the beginning of the reinstallation of Somerville’s Korean and Vietnam War Memorials. These memorials are a testament to sacrifice, to service, and to the enduring legacy of the men and women from Somerville and Cambridge who gave their lives in two of our nation’s most difficult wars.

Thank you to the families and the veterans who have long advocated for this restoration. We are honored to carry this work forward with you.

In addition, thank you so much to the Public Space and Urban Forestry Division, our Office of Veterans Services, and Department of Public Works for helping make these memorials a reality.

  1. Why was the original founding committee members not invited.
Why wasn’t I even made a where of this when I kept Mayor Joe and the VSO that I would like to know. I spent 2-3 years raising funds to build this Memorial.
Two of which still are alive and one still lives in Somerville.
