Scott G. Gamble of Medford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on February 12th. He was 72. Born in Boston and raised in Cambridge, he was the late Robert and Helen Gamble.
Scott was a loving partner, stepfather, “Grampy,” brother, brother-in-law and friend. As a young man he worked as a corrections officer at MCI – Concord and as a police officer in New Mexico, before beginning a 31 year career as an officer of the Somerville Police Department. He studied at Bunker Hill Community College, where he got his associates degree. In his free time, Scott was attentive to his exercise routine and to keeping his skills honed at the firing range. He was dedicated to his church and attended Mass daily. In the community, Scott was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. He enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family.
The beloved life partner of Maria C. Martins of Medford, he was a devoted stepfather to Tiffany DeMachi and her husband Michael, Mario Martins, Jr. and his wife Elisha, and Joey Martins. He was a loving Grampy to Ariana, Domenic, and Autumn. He was a dear brother to Keith Gamble and a dear “brother-in-law” to Gary and Denise Grosse.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, February 17 from 3-6 PM and again on Tuesday, February 18 at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in Saint Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Scott’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
