Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line:Somerville’s Broadway Bus Lane Should Go As Well

Your thoughts?

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Hi Billy,
How you doin?

The City of Boston is removing the bus lane on Boylston St. The bus and bike lanes on busy streets in Boston and Somerville has to go. Imagine what it cost the Boston taxpayers to add the bus lane (against many taxpayers’ and business owners’ wishes) then remove it and put the parking back.

The bus lane on Broadway in Somerville makes no sense. It also creates gridlock, frustrates drivers, and there is no place to park. It would be nice to see Somerville follow suit.

These so-called progressives have no common sense! Anyhow I thought you would be happy to read this. I sure was!

Thanks,
A frustrated resident

  1. Everett has a bus lane that is utilized during the peak traffic times only. It works and it saves businesses by allowing parking after the rush hour so businesses can survive.
This is a common sense approach to keeping everyone happy and able to move. Since all the downsizing of streets, addition of bike lanes and removal of parking there is more idling traffic on streets more than before???
It’s election season time to vote out those that do not use common sense.
