Obituary

Helen P. (Murphy) Estabrook, of Bedford and formerly of Arlington, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on January 23, 2024, she was 95. Born in Boston she was the oldest of six children born to Catherine (Slattery) and Charles F. Murphy.

In earlier years, Helen worked for Jordan Marsh as a buyer for their children’s department and later for the COOP in Harvard Square. She had an incredible work ethic and worked full time until she was 85 commuting on the bus and train every day. She loved all Boston sports and above all enjoyed being around family.

Helen was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Estabrook and devoted mother of Patricia Filosi of Bedford. Loving grandmother of Cheryl Cleary and her husband Patrick of Burlington and great-grandmother of Sofia and Colin Cleary. Helen was the dear sister of the late John Murphy, Theresa Joyce, Margaret Joyce, Mary Chicoine and Ann Murphy. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Tuesday morning, January 30th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM followed a Funeral Procession to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington for a graveside service at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.
