PARENTS CAN’T BE FORCED TO TESTIFY AGAINST THEIR CHILDREN

By Bob Katzen

This bill protects biological parents, adoptive parents, stepparents and legal guardians of a child from being forced to testify against the child. The protection would not apply if the child is being accused of committing a crime against a family member. Current law only protects children from being forced to testify against their parents.

Supporters say it is time to get rid of this double standard and to have an even playing field.
