Somerville Chosen for National Law Enforcement Exhibit

Somerville is one of five communities across the United States chosen for an inaugural exhibit at the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C. This new museum opens its doors to the public in October.

The Somerville Police Department and Teen Empowerment were chosen for the “Five Communities Exhibition” for their work to strengthen relationships between police and Somerville residents. Other communities in the exhibit are Dallas; Cleveland; Oakland, California; and Charleston, South Carolina.

One of the things contributing to Somerville’s inclusion in the exhibit is the Walking Dialogues program, where Somerville police and youth walk the streets together to meet the community and engage in conversation.
