Attorney General Maura Healey announced today that her office has brought suit against an online travel agency and its CEO for taking money from consumers for travel reservations despite knowing they would be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and then refusing to pay refunds.

The complaint is against the Florida-based BookIt.com and its CEO Arthur Finlaw. The company alleges it suspended its business in March due to the pandemic but continued to take payments from consumers for future travel plans. The complaint also alleges that BookIt kept consumers’ payments for its own benefit, did not forward those payments to the hotels and resorts that were booked, and now refuses to give any money back to consumers.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic made vacation plans and hotel stays impossible, BookIt pocketed thousands of dollars from consumers, leaving many travelers stranded and forced to pay twice for their reservations,” said Healey. “We are suing to get people their money back and hold BookIt accountable for refusing refunds.”

  1. I lost over 1500 is there any way I can join the lawsuit? I can’t reach anyone to get my funds back and my bank says its too late to file claim

  2. I too still haven’t received my refund in the amount of $2000 and I have attempted to call and email for over a year. When explained this to my bank they stated to me that the company BookIT would have to send them a release letter before they can issue me a refund. Now I am at a loss and it’s not right. Please direct me on how I too can join this lawsuit.

  3. Lost over $14k to these criminals, we are from NJ, can we join the Mass lawsuit? Can the attorney General Of the US file a lawsuit. This is so wrong and they stole so much money and kept taking right until they pulled the plug.

  4. How do I file or join this lawsuit against Book-it, I’m out $1,662.00 which I used my credit card to pay in installments to go on a girls trip to Mexico.

  5. I would like to join the lawsuit against BOOKIT.COM
I booked a honeymoon for my daughter to Mexico, and BOOKIT charged my credit card after they cancelled my vacation.

    1. Any response on how and if you can join this laysuit? I lost over $5,300.
And they never paid a hotel so I have nothing for the money they kept! This was for travel end of March and another trip to Cancun in July..

The CEO should be held accountable, this was fraud plain and simple…
