Somerville Speakup Line: “SOMERVILLE SNOWBALLS”

Dear Billy T and Somerville Speakup Line,

Can my councilman tell me why every snow storm the owner of Hillside is allowed to take all the snow from thier business and pile it onto a public way? This not only creates a pedestrian, motor vehicle hazard. The residents who live in the abutting property which has an address in Medford. They have a challange entering safely onto the street which is in Somerville cannot do so without a serious compromise.

After repeated conversations with officials at the City of Somerville. One occasion the snow pile was removed by the gas station owner.

Residents throughout the city are fined for barrel covers being own off. Fined for having trash items in bags not knowing what the contents is? Not shoveling your sidewalk. Throwing snow into the street. Parking during a snow emergency.

Do we wait for a child to climb on the snow mountain and get hurt? Or does it take an innocent pedestrian to be injured at the expense of an unassuming driver.

There always is a cause and an affect this is clearly a preventable accident waiting to happen.

Someone needs to step up to the plate and address this before there us another sad story to be told in Somerville

PS:It is my understanding that DPW Commissioner Stan Koty gets his car repaired there!

CITY HAS SNOBALLS
