Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

“Ding dong ditch” challenge. So there’s a group of 5 of them on my neighbor’s door. They kicked his door. His door was put in over a year ago, worth $9000.00.

The group of 5 kicked my door 3 days later. And again last week with 2 kids. One is the same with the multi colored hoodie and NIKE backpack in my two incidents. It’s all being recorded within the group on their cell phones. Over the summer, we had other incidents where the same thing happened, but the kicks were so hard it was literally loud from the kicking, and the door swung open and scared the elderly woman.

My neighbors and I provided the Somerville police officers from our own security cameras of these individuals of them running up onto our front porches and kicking our doors. And them running off.

The problem we all have is the repairs of the damage doors we are faced with. As I’m waiting from the 1st police officer who came to the scenes of both my neighbor and i providing him with the pictures and videos via email, there were still no follow-ups. Then, days later, I got the same kid doing it again. 2nd police officer came to the scene, and we repeated the same thing over again via email.

So my door is junk and now I need a whole new door frame and door. I’m sure I’m above the $2500.00 or possibly a higher amount due to my framing in the wall.

These kids don’t see the damages that it cost the homeowners and the time to fix it. I’m waiting on the names of these kids, and I’ll press charges.
