HIKE CIGARETTE TAX (S 2200)

By Bob Katzen

This bill would hike the tax on the sale of cigarettes by $1 from $3.51 to $4.51 per pack.

“Studies show that making cigarettes more expensive would deter young people from smoking and encourage those who already smoke to quit by making their deadly habit less affordable,” said sponsor Sen. John Keenan (D-Quincy). “At a time when the federal government has undertaken an unprecedented assault on public health, and far too many Massachusetts residents continue to die from cancer, it is urgent that we help keep people from tobacco and nicotine addiction.”

  1. My grandfather died of cancer but he got it because he had agent orange do to something he was exposed to in the military a lot of people in the military tend to get cancer due to exposure to stuff can’t say it’s all cigarettes luckily my dad didn’t end up going to the same island with my grandfather did

  2. They seem to be rising the cost of everything. I’m sure some people on Capitol Hill, the white house smoke . If the price of cigarettes, alcohol goes up let’s have Trump pay triple for his McDonald’s

  3. I quit 11 years ago because I was tired of paying 3 hundred dollars a month. Best thing I ever did.

  4. THIS IS MADNESS…..STOP TRYING TO CONTROL EVERYONE. TAX ALCOHOL AND STOP THE RIDICULOUS TAXES ON CIGARETTES!
