Congratulations to Deputy Chief Mike Avery on his recent retirement from the Somerville Fire Department.
Mike joined the department in 1988 and moved up through the ranks as a Lieutenant of Engine 7 and Captain of Tower 1 before being promoted to Deputy of Fire Prevention and retiring as the Deputy Chief of Group 1.
Mike is a life long Somerville resident and a very active member of the Community, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
