This past Wednesday, Ward One Alderman Matt McLaughlin sponsored a coffee hour for the seniors at the Cobble Hill Apartments.
Guest speakers were State Representative Tim Toomey and Senator Pat Jehlan whom are both running for re election in contested races.
Issues that were discussed were state funding to elder programs, the Green Line extension and the delayed development at 90 Washington Street Plaza where a 159 unit apartment building was to replace a now closed strip mall that had a Tedeshi mini mart that many of the elders relied on for milk, bread , and other items that did not require a trip to the supermarket.
Both Toomey and Jehlan took considerable time to talk to each elder after their presentation to discuss any other issues of concern. As usual, Alderman McLaughlin draws a large crowd at each of his many regular visits to Cobble Hill.
