Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line:Somerville Is Getting Worst Everyday

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Have you seen? The disaster on Broadway. I can’t even park my car anywhere on Broadway or top of the side streets.. It was supposed to be starting up 5AM-5PM. They changed it to start at 7PM. I have nowhere to park my car and have to move it at 8AM to go nowhere. You can’t make this idiocy up. The sign said until Saturday. You can’t even sleep with all the trucks backing up and noise. They should go dig up the Mayor’s street at her house.

Sad to say Billy but If we could do the 80s-90s all over again you’d be Mayor.

I’ll see it up close in the AM. I haven’t seen it. They removed all flex posts in the bike lanes laying down and only putting tar down on one side. So dumb, they should have did this in the Summer.

  1. The city is a complete joke. Fraudulent so-called leadership all around. Traffic is at a standstill most days morning to night. Davis Sq, has its issues with homelessness and drug use. Speed humps, on some streets as many as four are unnecessary. Narrowing of city streets put motorist, bikers and pedestrians at risk. Highland Ave is a two mile pothole. Somerville needs change. A sensible leader who has Somerville best interests at heart. Not someone whose only interest is their vision of what a city should be.

  2. they are killing all the businesses in the city!It is really terrebile.Look at all the places closing there doors.

  3. A complete disgrace they placed no parking cones for days and never sent a written notice to the residents or businesses. Then all of sudden at 6:00 pm yesterday they are having people move their cars and then the street gets blocked off. The city needs to do a better job with these construction sites.
East Somerville near Myrtle & Mt Vernon there are several detours that cause you to go in circles until you figure it all out.

  4. Honestly, the way this construction was handled seems like poor planning all around. If the city had consulted the community, maybe they would’ve avoided these late-night disruptions and parking chaos.
