Obituary
Daniel (Danny) M. Pereira, of Somerville, passed away peacefully after a year-long illness at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 17, 2025. He was 63 years old.
Born in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel, Azores, and raised in Somerville, Danny was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him, always bringing a smile to people’s faces. He loved spending time cooking and was an avid fan of the Patriots and Bruins. He was happiest at Squam Lake out on his boat with family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of Joanne Cassell, devoted father of David Pereira, Julie Pereira, and her husband, Patrick Raeke. Danny was the beloved son of the late Artur and Velademira Pereira and dear brother of Estrella Sicari and Carlos Pereira. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held at the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, on Tuesday, September 30th, from 4 PM to 7 PM, relatives and friends invited. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ann’s Church, Somerville, Wednesday October 1st, at 10:00, please meet directly at Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny’s memory may be made
to the Somerville High School Football team at 81 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA 02145, Attn: Athletics.
