MARGARET’S OBITUARY
Margaret “Peggy” Malone, a life long resident of Somerville, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2022 at the age of 82.
Born and raised in Somerville to the late Rose and Richard Erickson. Sister to the late Shirley & her husband John Milton and Robert Erickson. Survived by her brother Rick and his wife Trisha.
Peggy was a graduate of the Somerville High School Class of 1957. She often spoke about growing up in the 50’s and how life was “simple and fun” back then. She enjoyed going to Record Hop’s with her friends and dominating the game of Jack’s in the school yard. Peggy retired in 2004 from the Somerville YMCA where she was well known and loved by all the members.
Peggy enjoyed long car rides often with no destination in sight with her friend Frannie to find the best bargains. She also cherished countless conversations with friends and family over a cup of tea. Above all, Peggy’s most favorite pastime was sharing laughs with those she loved. She was not only loved by those who knew her but by strangers too.
Peggy was the absolute best Nana Peg to her grandchildren. She had a special and unique bond with each one of them. She showed them unconditional love, acceptance and created memories that they will hold close to their hearts. Not only was she Nana Peg to her grandchildren but to so many people, everyone loves Nana Peg.
Peggy was so incredibly proud of her two daughters, Karen and Cindy. Being their mom was her favorite role in life. She loved to see the bond between the two of them and would often say “No one makes my Karen laugh like my Cindy.” That made her most happy, to see the love her daughters have for each other. Peggy was the best mother and made sure they both knew how much she loved them. She shared many laughs, adventures, advice and love with both of them. As proud as she was to be their “Ma” they are proud to be Peggy’s “girls”.
Peggy will be missed by so many.
Peggy was the beloved mother to her daughter Karen and her husband Mike O’Connell, and her daughter Cindy and her husband Mikey Martignetti; Nana Peg to Kristen and her wife Stacey, Scott and his wife Amanda, Kaitlyn, Kelsea, Marc, Jake, Bryan, Jason and his wife Casey; Great Nana to Graham, Lydon, Julia, Lucas, Riley and Lance; Auntie Peggy to the Milton kids, many nieces, nephews and a friend to so many.
