Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line: Registrar Curtatone Running Registry of Deeds Into Ground Attorneys Feed Up

F03BBD20-C12F-49E6-8E9A-608BF2D97C5B

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

See below. Only Registry of Deeds closed—Middlesex

Also, up to this point, Middlesex Registry (and the Probate Court) have only been accepting documents via the USPS, not Fedex, no UPS and no delivery—even to a drop box. On Thursday, another attorney connected to this office tried to deliver an envelope (felt uncomfortable mailing as it had to do with a large estate with many signatures and did not want to lose it in the mail). A person at Middlesex directed her to the Post Office. She went there, put $7 postage on the package, and had a conversation with the postal worker. Apparently, employees of the Registry go and pick up the mail at the post office—it’s not even delivered to the Registry.

This Covid virus has made people even crazier than they normally are—of course, Middlesex operations have been in recent years, inexplicable.

In March at the beginning of this pandemic you wrote this article below. To date nothing has changed and the management hacks at the Registry of Deeds have failed miserably..

March article:

WHY IS SOUTH MIDDLESEX REGISTRY OF DEEDS THE ONLY REGISTRY NOT RECORDING ELECTRONICALLY DURING CRISIS?

By William Tauro

Why is it that out of twenty Massachusetts Registry of Deeds in the state, that the South Middlesex Registry of Deeds in Cambridge is the only registry of deeds not recording electronically during this pandemic crisis?

We totally understand that no physical recordings can be done during this time of crisis, but electronically filed recording should be an option and made available to the taxpayers of Massachusetts.

This story is still developing…
