Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,
Hope all is well, we need your help to expose this.
So my wife is a RN (Registered Nurse)at the Lawrence General Hospital who is taking care of Covid patients in the ICU. Last week the nurses were given fake N95 masks that the hospital had purchased and after the hospital found out the mask were counterfeit they had the nurses turn them in for new ones.
They refuse to test any one that had fake N95 mask. (Talk about not taking care of your frontline workers.) The MNA nurses union is aware but has no back bone to force the Hospital to test there Nurses.
Would you please call them and put them in the spot light. We understand that things happen, but the hospital should do the right thing and test everyone that had been using one of these mask.
Counterfeit respirators are products that are falsely marketed and sold as being NIOSH-approved and may not be capable of providing appropriate respiratory protection to workers.
Nurses are in rooms with covid-19 patients who are taken off vents while patients are coughing in the air with one of these masks on.
Below is the notice that was sent out to us notifying us of the counterfeit masks they were issued by the hospital and instructions to replace them.
Attached is a link verifying examples of counterfeit respirators using Shanghai Dasheng Health Products Manufacture Co. Ltd’s (SDH) NIOSH approval numbers without their permission.
