Theresa Hussey-Rogers, a proud, lifelong Somerville resident, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, September 26th she was 72. Born and raised in Somerville, Theresa was one of ten children born to Helen (Mehigan) and Peter Hussey.
Theresa was a longtime employee of the City of Somerville and retired as a foreman with the Water and Sewer Department. A hard worker, she always had a smile on her face and loved taking care of her customers. She enjoyed traveling with Mike over the years, taking many cruises. Together they enjoyed time spent on Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, New Hampshire and the ocean in Zephyrhills City, Florida. Above all she loved hosting family and friends and spending time together for all the holidays. A faithful woman, she prayed daily and always said the rosary. She will be remembered by many for always putting others first and was certainly one of a kind.
The beloved wife of 33 years to Michael B. Rogers, Theresa was the devoted mother of Walter Hussey and Virginia Hussey, both of Somerville. Cherished “Nana” of Teighan, Dante and Lucca Hussey and Colin McCarthy-Hussey. Dear sister of Katherine Camara of Revere, Helen Mahoney of Malden and the late John J. Hussey, Nora Hussey, Mary Hagerty, Michael, Walter, Peter and Julia Hussey and the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Thursday, October 1st from 4:00PM ~ 7:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. A Funeral Procession will begin Friday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Union Sq. at 10:00AM. Interment will be private.
