Obituary
DiMitrios Lazarou- A longtime resident of Somerville, affectionately known as Dimitri, passed away at home after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, May 7, 2026. He was 88 years old.
Born and raised in Kato, Fteria, Greece, he was the beloved son of the late Elias and Joanna (Penopoulou) Lazarou.
Dimitri immigrated to the US to better his life for himself and for his family. Upon arriving in the US, he continued his education and graduated from Northeastern University. He had a successful career in technology, working for Northeastern, Tufts, and MIT, just to name a few. Dimitri was a kind and loving man and will be missed.
Beloved son of the late Elias and Joanna (Penopoulou) Lazarou. Devoted brother of Naum Lazarou of Somerville and the late Lazros Lazarou. He is also lovingly survived by many loving family members in Canada and in Greece.
A funeral service will be held in the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church Greek Orthodox Church 52 Central St. Somerville on Tuesday, May 12 at 10:00AM. Please meet directly at church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Services will conclude with Dimitri being laid to rest with his beloved parents at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
