Medford Police Department News Updates

We had a great time at Sunday’s Pre-Blizzard Polar Plunge, and together, Medford raised over $8,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts!

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated volunteers, our brave plungers, and our generous sponsors: Tufts University, Boston Physical Therapy & Wellness, Page Aesthetics, MIT4KIDS, ScrubaDub Car Wash, and Cataldo Ambulance. Special thanks as well to Grêp Kafé, Medford Recreation, and Raising Cane’s for their support.

Congratulations to our 2026 award winners:
• Most Spirited: Anthony Petrelis, Beyond Podcast
• Most Plungers: Theta Chi Fraternity, Tufts University
• Top Fundraiser: Officer Jessica Walsh
• Top Fundraising Team: Medford Police Department

We are also grateful to our co-host, the Medford Chamber of Commerce, for helping make this event such a success.

Every dollar raised supports more than 20,000 Special Olympics athletes across Massachusetts, empowering them to train, compete, and build lifelong friendships. These funds also directly strengthen our Unified programs right here in Medford, promoting inclusion both on and off the playing field.

Thank you, Medford, for showing up and making a difference for the SOMA athletes. 💙🥶
