Obituary
Catherine M. (Kay) Post of Somerville passed away surrounded by the love of
her family on January 7, 2025, at the age of 94.
She was the beloved wife of the late William D. Post of Somerville. Born and raised in Malden, she was the daughter of the late John Hughes and Anna Mae Hughes, both of Malden.
Kay was the loving mother to William D. Post, Jr. and his wife Frances of
Brookfield, Illinois, Stephen M. Post and his wife Virginia of Somerville, and
the late Lawrence G. Post and his surviving wife Susan Callahan Post of Somerville.
Kay was the sister to the late Irene Hughes, SSND, of Bridgeport, CT, the late
Dorothy Hughes of Malden, and the late Margaret Hughes of Reading. “Nana
Kay” was the beloved grandmother to Michael, Laura, Katie, Julia, Stephen
Michael, Sam and Sean and great grandmother to Madeleine, James, Colin,
Bridget, Benjamin and Stella June. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Kay held several occupations over her lifetime and served for many years as
secretary and administrative assistant at the James A. Logan Post VFW in
Somerville. Above all, Kay was devoted to her family and took great pride
and joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Friday evening, January 10th 2025 from 4:00 – 6:30, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 6:30.
