Obituary
KELLEY, Gerald J. – Of Medford, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 He was 89.
Jerry was born in Boston on September 18, 1934 to the late James J. and Helen (Fitzgerald) Kelley. He proudly served abroad the USS Mullany DD528 during the Korean War and was a long time member of the Tin Can Sailors Association. Gerald was a member of the Cambridge YMCA for over fifty years joining in 1955. After working for the MBTA and then the Somerville Police in the early 1960’s. He joined the MDC and the State Police until his retirement in 1994 with the rank of lieutenant. Jerry loved cooking and he always said “The best restaurant is your own kitchen.”. He loved traveling in the U.S and the Carrabin with his beloved wife Anne.

Loving father of Gerald Peter Kelley and his wife Elaine of Ashland.
Brother of Regina Burke, Patricia Ruccolo, Maureen Kelley the late Anne Mecrones and Joan Sperlinga.
Dear grandfather of Jillian and Ethan.
Stepfather of Darryl Donegan of CA and his children, Michael and Patrick.
Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, Thursday morning at 10:30, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Raphael Church, Medford at 11:00.
Calling hours Thursday morning 8:30 – 10:30.
Relatives and friends invited.
Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Late MDC Police Officer and Korean Navy Veteran. As a special request from Gerald, the staff at the Massachusetts General Hospital were so kind to bring him to the 22nd floor to watch the fireworks on the 4th July, as Gerald worked the fireworks show so many times as a Police Officer.
