Kelly, Joyce E. “Ginger” (Crowley)- Of Somerville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 24, 2024. She was 89 years old.
Ginger born in Cambridge to the late Joseph and Anna (Sullivan) Crowley. She met the love of her life, Francis, and together they settled in Somerville, where they raised their family. Ginger cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. As a grandmother, she took on her role with great seriousness, delighting in attending her grandchildren’s after-school events and hosting them at her home for playful times together.
Her love extended beyond family to her community, where she was deeply engaged in local events. Notably, Ginger was a member of the Davis Square Task Force during the expansion of the red line. In her leisure time, she enjoyed immersing herself in a good book and showcasing her culinary skills as a fabulous cook.
The devoted wife of 68 years to the late Francis Kelly who passed away in 2021. The beloved mother of Pat Kelly and her husband Joseph of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Fran Daly of Somerville, and Bill Kelly and his wife Sue of Wilmington, Delaware. Cherished grandmother of Steven Kelly and his wife Nora, Kelly Ann Daly and her husband John Perrone, Michael Kelly and his wife Kori, Jay Reyes and his wife Brittany, C.C Daly and his partner John Bouthiller, John Kelly and his wife Heather, Colleen Kelly and her husband Rockson Chang. Loving great grandmother of Liam, Sam, Maren, Sloane, Declan P., Declan, K., and Freyja. Dear sister of the late Patricia Donahue and Ardeth Evans. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House SQ.) Somerville, on Monday, July 1st from 10:00AM to 12:00AM.
Followed by burial at St. Paul Cemetery, Arlington.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
