Late Saturday evening into Sunday morning, Medford firefighters fought a stubborn three-alarm fire in a two family home, at the corner of Riverside Avenue and Pleasant Street.
Additional resources and tactics were needed due fire burning within hidden void spaces and internal staircases/floors being burned-out. The wind and freezing temperatures flammed the fire and created icy conditions on the ground. Overcoming these obstacles, the fire was contained to the structure and did not extend to any other homes. There are no reported injuries at this time. Our partners at Malden Fire, Chelsea Fire, Somerville Fire, Arlington Fire were on scene working with us. Back up coverage for the City was provided by Everett Fire, Stoneham Fire, and Revere Fire. Medford PD diverted traffic. Armstrong Ambulance were on EMS standby. Canteen and rehab service were provided by the Boston Sparks A-10.
Update: A Medford police officer was treated for a minor injury and is expected to be okay. #local1032 #medfordma #fire #firefighters #pffm
