This year the City of Somerville was named a 2023 Digital Inclusion Trailblazer by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), joining 46 municipal, county, and regional governments recognized for paving the way for digitally inclusive communities across the US.
Somerville achieved Trailblazer status from the ongoing work of the Digital Bridge Initiative, which includes:
Funding digital navigators at the Council on Aging and SomerPromise (one at each).
Digital literacy skills and digital navigator funded by the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) to MassHire MetroNorth to serve Somerville residents at Somerville Community Corporation (SCC).
Currently working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) to create a Digital Equity Plan for the City of Somerville.
