Obituary
Brainard, Pasquale A. – affectionately known as Pat or Sarge. Of Somerville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was 86.
Born in Boston to the late Leonard F. and Mary (Lombardi) Brainard. As a young man Pat joined the military and served for his country. He loved the military so much he made himself a 40+ year career of this, he also ran the drum & bugle corp “Junior Annunciators of Somerville”. After retirement, you could find Pat tending to his garden, making his family one of his many delicious meals and woodworking, As Pat got older, he found New Hampshire his peaceful place, he loved to camp there during the warm summer nights, or fishing in one of the many lakes. Sarge, during his down time loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He would always boast with pride and smile ear to ear whenever he would speak of them. His contagious laugh and jokester personality will be missed.
He was the beloved husband of 23 years to Karyl (Dowling) Brainard. Devoted father of Meeghan Kiklis and her husband James, Tiffany Costa and her husband Kenneth “Kenny”, Tara Keene and her husband Donald “Donnie”, David Nee and his wife Darie, Edward “Eddie” Mutch Jr. and his wife Kris, Lori A. Brainard and her husband Rob, Stephen Brainard and his wife Barbara, Diane Judd and her husband Scott, and Susan Lawson and her husband George. Cherished and loving papa and great grandfather. Dear brother to Bernie Brainard and Ellen Farrell and the late Randell Brainard and Bobby Brainard.
A funeral procession will be held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Monday, December 11th at 11:30AM. Followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church 262 Washington St., Somerville, MA at 12:30PM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be Sunday, December 10th from 2:00PM to 5:00PM
Interment will be private.
