Somerville/Medford Remembering Joan (McPherson) Grimes

Obituary:

Joan (McPherson) Grimes passed away, at her Somerville home, surrounded by the love of her family on November 21, 2023, she was 68.

One of fifteen children, she was born in Medford the daughter of the late Mary (White) and Alphonsus McPherson. A graduate of Somerville High School, she worked as a paraprofessional teacher with Somerville Public Schools for many years. She enjoyed baking and cake decorating, hosting family and taking her grandchildren to the beach.

She was the devoted mother of Allison Faeth and her husband Sean of Somerville. Cherished grandmother of Anjelica Mazariegos and her husband Giancarlo, Emily, Ryker and Rebeka Faeth and great-grandmother of Jazlynn Mazariegos. She was the loving partner of Peter Palombo. Dear sister of Margaret O’Neill of Arlington, Richard McPherson and Francis McPherson, both of Somerville and the late Helen DeInnocentis, John McPherson, William McPherson, Thomas McPherson, James McPherson, Alphonsus McPherson, Joseph McPherson, Robert McPherson, Mary Jane Berry, Ann Giorgio and Patricia White.

Calling Hours will be held in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Wednesday, November 29th from 4:00PM – 7:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville on Thursday morning, November 30th at 10:00AM, those attending are kindly asked to meet at church. Interment will be private.
