Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line: Change at Somerville intersection could be riskier for Stop & Shop crosswalk users, residents warn CambridgeDay.com Describes

Dear Billy T and Somerville/Medford News Weekly Speakup Line,

Billy, F.Y.I. you probably read this an attended the meeting, but the crossing from Clarendon Hill Twrs on Broadway over to Stop & Shop is treacherous.

The city placed a dinky little stop sign in the street. Cars just come whizzing by and don’t pay attention to that dinky little sign, plus drivers can see clearly there’s a crosswalk. When I’m trying to cross and cars don’t stop…I like to give the drivers the middle finger.
Anyhow, the Clarendon Hill mbta Bus Terminal Pavement has yet to be completely redone. The “mayor, Brad and Judy are very adept at making empty promises. Thanking you for publishing my comments on this issue. I guess the “mayor, Brad and Judy don’t bother to read the newspaper. I consider the pot holes at the terminal, the dangerous crosswalk, etc…removal of benches a form of elder abuse.

Sincerely,

Karen Glover

  1. The treacherous crosswalk at Clarendon Hill Towers needs traffic lights, an overhang large green sign the same as on a highway reading Caution Pedestrian Crossing and a Warning Symbol. This traffic at this crosswalk is the same speed as highway traffic. Oh, a few ft. from the crosswalk going toward Alwife is a very deep pothole in the street. …so beware when driving…who knows when that will get fixed.
