Medford Encouraging Seniors to Apply for Senior Work-Off Real Estate Tax Abatement Program

Seniors 60 and up can reduce taxes by temporarily working for the City
Coffee Hour and information session will be held Thursday, May 26th at 1:00pm
at the Medford Senior Center

(MEDFORD)—The City of Medford, in conjunction with the Council on Aging, Assessor’s Office and other departments is inviting seniors, age 60 and over, to learn about how they can lower their Real Estate tax payments by temporarily working for the City as part of the Senior Work-Off Abatement Program.

City Assessor Ellen Brideau and Council on Aging Director Pamela Kelly will be on hand at a Coffee Hour and information session on Thursday, May 26th at 1 p.m. at the Medford Council on Aging, to answer questions, receive program updates and literature and apply to be a part of this money-saving abatement program. Please be aware that there are only approximately 20 spots available for the program and certain positions will require specific skill sets. Preference will be given to those who have not already participated. Senior veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Only one applicant will be selected per household.

The work program will begin July 1, 2022 and must be completed on or before February 28, 2023.

All information packets must be completed and returned to the Medford Senior Center by June 24th at 12:00 noon. Please call 781-396-6010 to reserve your seat.
