There will be an information session and public hearing on proposed water and sewer rates for fiscal year 2020, which begins July 1, 2019. Both will be held in the Somerville High School cafeteria on Monday, April 22. The information session will start at 6 p.m. followed by the hearing, which will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
If you would prefer to give written testimony, you can email water@somervillema.gov or otherwise deliver it to the Water & Sewer Department, 17 Franey Rd, Somerville, MA 02145. Testimony will be accepted until 6 p.m. on Monday, April 29.
Well its an election year its about time the homeowners who’s backs this will be on to lay it on their Councillors that enough is enough. This should one of the reasons to get everyone in your neighborhood out to VOTE.
Term limits are set by the voters who get off their ass and vote. Its your one and only opportunity to have an impact on who represents you every two years.
Several Councillors have consistently voted against enabling home ownership by middle working class people in this city to exist. They continue to support levying all kinds of taxes and fees on us forcing homes to be sold to the developer that are cashing in.
They can’t understand why its unaffordable for those poor socialists that have run amuck in the city for the past two years.
Hopefully those paying attention to what these Elected Official’s are about to pass onto the taxpayers will revolt and run their asses out of office this election cycle.
Hold them accountable for failing to stop excessive spending, stop the unnecessary hiring, start saving and cutting the expense to run this city in an efficient manner like the homowners.
They are doing this to force out more homeowners so developers can keep the money train flowing back to them. Nothing but a pack of backstabbing thieves.
The increase being proposed right now is an outrageous 13.5% for water and sewer. Anyone know anyone who has ever gotten a 13.5% salary increase in one year (not counting the legislature!). And to begin in July 2019. How do they think people can afford this kind of an increase?
Be prepared they want to increase your rates over 40% over 3 years!
Why why why are we having another phony hearing for water and sewer rates. They only go one way, just like the taxes. UP UP UP. No mater what we say or how we feel there is no choice. Pay up or get out. What I wouldn’t give to get Capuano back! ABC
