Firefighter Charles J. Breen of Ladder 2, retired, has passed away.
Huge loss for the city of Somerville Ma.
Firefighter Breen was appointed on October 13, 1968 and retired on September 17, 1982.
He is the father of Chief Engineer Charles J. Breen Jr, Senior Fire Alarm Operator Todd C. Breen and Fire Alarm Operator Scott P. Breen.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 1st at 11am at St Clements Church in Medford.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Charlie. My condolences and prayers go out to his family.
I had my very first fire my second week on the SFD with Charlie. We know sooner arrived and Charlie was up on a ground ladder hard at work ventilating the building to aid in fire extinguishment.
He was a great firefighter and more importantly he was just a great guy. That smile you see on his photo was ever present. Just one heck of a gentleman.
Charlie, rest in peace. You will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
