Ward 5 Alderman Mark Niedergang on Broadway/Ball Square Bridge Closing

Concerned about the Broadway/Ball Square bridge closure for a year starting around November 2018? I am, and you should be if you live anywhere near Ball Square or pass through there. For the latest info on detour routes for motor vehicles, buses, bikes and pedestrians, timing, support for Ball Sq businesses, and more, come to a Green Line Extension (GLX) Community Meeting Wednesday, August 29, 6 PM at the Community Baptist Church, 31 College Ave in Davis Square.

Please join City of Somerville staff, representatives from the GLX team, Ward 6 Alderman Lance Davis and me for a discussion of the construction and mitigation efforts during the Broadway/Ball Square bridge closure.

This will be a painful, frustrating and difficult situation for that year. But the pot of gold at the end (or should I say the light at the end of the tunnel) will be a GLX station in Ball Square in 2021. Hopefully that gain will be worth the pain.

If you want more information about the proposed detours, contact me. Hopefully there will be some new info at the meeting, but I can tell you what plans have been made public to date.
