Letter to the Editor:To Alderman Niedergang and other Alderman (cc The Somerville News Weekly and Zone Smart Somerville)

Your constituents have had a few small meetings on this Demolition Review Ordinance, and I want you to know that your tight scheduling has been very harmful to our lives.

I asked Alderman Niedergang to schedule this meeting in September, so that we could properly organize the community for this public meeting, and ensure others could attend.  But instead Alderman Niedergang scheduled it on July 9th, and we cannot organize in that time frame, especially with so many families away for the Summer.

I respectfully request that this is in fact moved to September, to allow us to organize a petition and awareness on this very significant matter.

I also bring your attention to the attached lawn sign that we want to invest in (costing thousands of dollars), so that citizens are made aware of the significant effects of this deceptive ordinance.  This sign will not be made in time to properly allow your constituents to become aware of this meeting, or it’s significance.

Please confirm this will be moved to September for transparency and process to occur.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation in the transparent process.

Dr. Mouhab Z. Rizkallah

Jun 14, 2018

Dear Dr. Rizkallah,

I have scheduled a Public Hearing at a Legislative Matters Committee of the Whole meeting on the proposed revised Demolition Delay Ordinance for Monday, July 9 at 6 PM.  The Board of Alderman may also deliberate if there is time on the ordinance following the public hearing. There are likely to be other matters on the agenda as well.

Yours,

Mark
