OFF-DUTY SOMERVILLE POLICE OFFICER INVOLVED IN MOTORCYCLE CRASH IN PORTSMOUTH NH PASSES AWAY

Late Monday evening, Somerville Police Officer Louis Remigio passed away.

The off-duty police officer was involved in a motorcycle crash on Route 95 in New Hampshire this past Sunday Morning.

Louis Remigio, a 30 year veteran of the Somerville Police Department was transported in critical condition to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries in Portsmouth NH after the crash.

Michael Ricci, 18, of Burlington, has been charged in connection with the crash. The 18 year old was allegedly racing down Route 95 prior to colliding with the off-duty officer’s motorcycle causing the crash.

Ricci posted $10,000 cash bail on Monday and was released from prison. He is due in court for an arraignment on Oct. 20.

Officer Remigio, a Tewksbury resident was 56 years old.
