Real Life Somerville Police Stories:Linsley SEIDE (ABDW – Shod Foot)

On May 25, 2016, I, Officer Tim Van Nostrand, was on duty and assigned to uniform patrol in marked cruiser 781. At approximately 1338hrs, I was dispatched along with Officer Schneider (784) to 9 Garfield Ave for a road rage incident which evolved into a fight.

I arrived on scene within seconds of the dispatch and located a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street. A tall black male, later identified as XXXXX, and white female, identified as YYYYY, yelled toward me stating “he hit me” while pointing at a black male in the driveway, identified as Linsley Seide.

I first interviewed XXXXX, who stated he and his wife were in their vehicle proceeding from the Stop and Shop parking lot onto Garfield Ave. He stated a black male and female jaywalked in front of their car. Words were exchanged, and XXXXX pulled his vehicle over to confront Seide. Once out of the vehicle Seide began grabbing XXXXX’s shirt, and punching him with a closed fist. YYYYY then exited the vehicle in an attempt to break up the fight, however in the scuffle she was thrown to the ground by Seide. While on the ground Seide kicked her in the head while he was wearing sneakers. YYYYY estimated 2 or 3 kicks before XXXXX was able to enter back into the fight.

Both YYYYY and Seide shared similar stories to corroborate the incident. A check of Linsley Seide through CJIS revealed an active WMS warrant. Seide was placed into handcuffs (double locked) and charged with A&B with a dangerous weapon (shod foot) in addition to his default warrant.

All parties were cleared medically by Cataldo Ambulance. There was physical lumps on YYYYY’s head, however these injuries were not visually apparent, and no photographs are available.

Seide was transported by Officer Anderson (200) to the station where he was booked by Lt. deOliveira. Seide’s sneakers were seized as evidence.

Respectfully Submitted,

Officer Tim Van Nostrand
