Somerville News Weekly’s Special Person of the Week John Alan Roderick

By Frank Santagelo

John has resided in the same house on Spring Hill ever since he was born.

He was a student that attended three schools here in the city, Proctor, Southern and Somerville High Class of 1977.

John has worked in the Kitchen at Somerville Hospital from 1975-1981, then went onto to work at Cambridge Electric Light Co. and has been there ever since (35 years).

John met his wife Heather who was a SHS graduate Class of 1978 at his life-long friend Eddie Evan’s house that was located on Conwell Street.

The couple started and raised a family here in Somerville with two children, Stephen who is now 27 and Amanda who is now 30 years old.

John has worked as a polling place Warden for the City of Somerville for over 20 years, mostly at the Dante Club.

John is a lifelong Somerville guy who loves Somerville and never wanted to leave the city that he calls home.

He also love trains, planes and automobiles (and ships too–anything that moves) as well as he is fascinated with local history.

John has also been a volunteer coach for Somerville Little League for the past 23 years.

John is an example of what makes this city the great city that it is and one of the greatest cities to live in on the face of the earth.

We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you do to make Somerville a better place.

Congratulations
