Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose…
I start off this week with a sad goodbye to a friend and classmate of mine from way back who sadly lost her battle with cancer this past Sunday. Amanda DaSilva was a sweet, loving, funny woman who leaves behind her son Michael, her sisters, parents, family and friends who will never forget her laugh, her smile, her spirit. She was one of the good ones and will be sorely missed.
This past week also saw the birth of Luna Alexandria Norton on November 25th – my third granddaughter and the first born of my son Corey and his girlfriend Alyssa. She joins Nevaeh Celeste Harrison who was born was born on October 6th and her sister Naomi Kiara Harrison, who turned one year old on October 20th. Three beautiful blessings and all healthy as can be.
Lynda and I will be traveling to Illinois to visit the grandchildren and their parents this Friday through next week. We won’t be driving like last year – that’s a drive I don’t want to do again, plus, the weather would not be cooperative. Because we wanted to fly this time, we opted to ship hundreds and hundreds of pieces of clothing, shoes, toys and various baby-related stuff ahead of flying out there.
It is terribly unfortunate that my son-in-law lost his mother suddenly on Thanksgiving and that he and my daughter will be traveling to Delaware for the funeral arrangements, but, that will give Lynda and I a lot of one on one time with both Nevaeh and Naomi while they’re gone, along with their cousin Luna, who lives only up the street from them. We will miss spending the entire time with my daughter Kaitlin and her husband Jaleel, but, we will make the best of it when they’re back.
So it is looking like a great start to the wonderful month of December – a month that will give us the opportunity to see our grandchildren, throw our annual Tacky/Ugly Sweater Party when we get back, enjoy Christmas and wind out the month (and obviously the year) by celebrating the two year anniversary of The Norton Affair. Then it will be back to work and gearing up for our trip to The Azores in February.
They say things get better as you get older – and I would tend to agree – I have never enjoyed life as much as I do these days. Life is what you make of it, and I truly believe that you can be happy – it is up to you. Just do it. #GMK
