is presented for outstanding dedication and effort for the month of June 2014 to

Detective Natacha Montina-Garcia

Over the last eight years, Detective Natacha Montina-Garcia has proved to be… an exceptional employee of the Somerville Police Department. After only two years in patrol, Detctive Montina-Garcia was assigned as the Juvenile Officer in the Criminal Investigation Division and still holds that position today. During the past eight years Detective Montina-Garcia has received praise from many members of the Somerville Public School system for her prompt and professional response to any issue that may arise. More recently, she was recognized by the Director of Student Services for her work with the students of the Next Wave Alternative Junior High School. During a presentation, Detective Montina-Garcia, along with Officer Steve St. Hilaire, sent a very strong message to the students that the Somerville Public Schools and the Somerville Police Department work together to solve issues, and more importantly, that the officers of the SPD care about the students at the Next Wave School. There was also a great follow-up discussion after the session within the students’ counseling groups. Aside from her work with the youth of the city, Detective Montina-Garcia is always willing to assist with general investigations or other issues in the department. Her actions truly are above and beyond the call of duty and merit this recognition.
