Group to hold free screening of THE ANNONYMOUS PEOPLE at the Somerville Theatre as their inaugural event
Somerville Overcoming Addiction is holding a free public screening of the documentary The Anonymous People on Wednesday June 25, 2014 at 5:30pm at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. Doors open at 5:30 for an overdose prevention and Narcan training by the Cambridge Needle Exchange. The film will begin at 6:15pm.
SOA is a newly formed organization that seeks to help our community respond to the growing drug epidemic that has plagued us for years. We are a diverse group that includes people living in recovery, families affected by substance use, and concerned citizens. We believe that our diversity is our strength and will help us in our community building efforts. We are determined to make a difference in any way that we can. ”
I’ve personally committed myself to fighting addiction by raising awareness or whatever it takes if it will stop just one person from being hurt or worse murdered like my nephew Christopher Sousa, who was murdered by someone on drugs. I’ve lived in Somerville all my 48 years, I grew up in the Mystic projects where Christopher was murdered, this drug abuse and the violence associated with it has to stop.” says SOA member Nancy Medeiros
The Anonymous People is a feature documentary film about the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction.
